England vs. US

England played the US today in the FIFA World Cup, and as a result I was torn between which team to root for. While I am loyal to my British heritage and felt it necessary to support England, the US squad  featured two players from Everton FC, my home team.  These players were Landon Donovan and Tim Howard. I’ve supported Everton since I was a wee one so I also had some loyalty on that side. Seeing a Liverpool player score past Tim Howard normally would be terrible, but today it was acceptable as I ultimately chose to support England.

While I did root for England throughout the match, it wasn’t a complete upset in any direction as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.  England could have played a lot better, especially Robert Green. Tim Howard, though, was on form for the game despite his early injury.
